Venus fotografiat de sonda japoneza Akatsuki

Această fotografie a fost făcută de sonda Akatsuki, lansată de Japans JAPA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency)

„Camera IR2 a lui Akatsuki se bazează pe căldura emanată din atmosfera inferioară a lui Venus pentru a fotografia norii inferiori de pe partea nopții. Radiația infraroșie care provine de sub nori reprezintă siluetă cea mai de jos punte de nori, astfel încât zonele de nor mai groase par mai întunecate în această fotografie. În stânga jos, detectorul camerei este copleșit de strălucirea luminii soarelui care se reflectă în semiluna luminată de zi.”

“Akatsuki’s IR2 camera relies on heat emanating from the lower atmosphere of Venus to image the nightside lower clouds. The infrared radiation originating beneath the clouds silhouettes the lowermost cloud deck, so areas of thicker cloud appear darker in this photo.
